Lake Como's restaurants are lovely, but the meal you'll remember is the one you make yourself. A cooking class here means three hours in a real kitchen — a local home or a villa — learning fresh pasta, ragù and tiramisù from someone who cooks this way every day, then sitting down to eat it with local wine. Classes run small (usually 2-8 people) and cost €130–380 per person depending on setting and menu. Tell us your dates and dietary needs on WhatsApp; we match you with a vetted local host and you pay on the day.
Honest prices — what it really costs
| Class type | Typical price (per person) | Setting |

| Private class in a local home | €200–280 | Host's kitchen, just your group |

How it works
Classes last about three hours plus the meal. The usual shape:
- Meet your host, coffee and a quick tour of the kitchen or garden.
- Hands-on prep: pasta dough from scratch, a sauce, and tiramisù.
- Sit-down lunch or dinner eating everything you made, with local wine.
- Recipes to take home — real ones, scaled for a normal kitchen.
What's typically included
- All ingredients, apron and equipment
- Two to three courses plus tiramisù
- Local wine with the meal (and usually a glass while cooking)
- Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menus on request — tell us in advance
Not included: transport to the venue. Most hosts are in Como town, Bellagio or the Tremezzina — reachable by ferry or a short taxi ride.
Who it's for (and who it isn't)
Perfect for couples on a rainy day (and Como has them), families with kids aged 8+, and anyone who wants a souvenir that isn't a magnet. It's also a genuinely good honeymoon activity — private classes in a home feel personal, not touristy.
Skip it if you're only on the lake for one day and haven't seen the villas yet — do the lake first. And if you want someone to cook for you, that's a private chef, not a class.
Honest tips
- Book a lunchtime class — you'll skip cooking dinner and the price often includes enough wine that you won't want to.
- Home-based classes beat hotel kitchens for atmosphere; villa classes beat them for the view. Pick your priority.
- Group classes are friendly and social; private classes are worth the extra €70–100 for a special occasion.
- Midweek slots are easier to get in high season and sometimes slightly cheaper.
